The Town of Rockville also opposed, for the record, in support of the Comprehensive Plan and the Land Plan of Wadmalaw Island.
There was also discussion of proposed legislation that will have the State regulate STR Laws rather than the County. Judiciary meeting to be held in January.
Old Business:
Rockville uses the County STR Policy but needs to develop its own. Current residents, who do rent their property, will be Grandfathered In. Council to discuss further. Mayor has consulted with Town attorney and Joel Evans from the County.
Frank Thornhill comments – Would the new State Rule supersede?
Henry Holst to follow up with other municipalities regarding their STR Policy.
Judy Suggs asks – Is 7 days 1 rental or 7 days?
Goats and chickens are currently prohibited in the Town. Presently several residents own chickens. Mayor suggests that Council amend section 3.102 of the Code. Possibly allow goats, chickens horses, mini pigs, etc. Council will seek to modify code via an Ordinance. Mayor to provide copy of current code and Council will redline.
