MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORTS:
- DRB: Linda Folk and Chip Linton reporting. Plan to meet in April. Solar panel issue under review to determine if the view from the road is offensive. Vegetation screen may be an appropriate solution.
Construction site hazardous waste removal. Question – is there, and what is the nature of an Ordinance to regulate safety, tidiness and timeliness of removing such material. County issue in general. Should the town have a stance?
- Planning absent. No one reporting.
- BZA absent. No one reporting.
- WLPC: Henry Holst represented Wadmalaw Land Planning Committee. Cleanup on Boy Scout and Cherry Point Roads, approximately 70 Flyers have been distributed to gauge interest. As of this meeting no response.
OLD BUSINESS:
Sled investigation into prior Clerk is still on going. Mayor has contacted Al Cannon. Evidence is still being acquired.
Website: MASC Directives needed to help complete website. The Site will feature “What’s New” and “FAQ” sections. Also, a note to remind people that the “Rockville Regatta” is not a Town function, but rather a private Yacht Club event. Inquiries regarding Regatta will be directed to the Yacht club via the Website.
NEW ROAD CONES! Reflective tape on the speed bumps was suggested.
Container Ordinance is headed to Planning to await their response.
Adams House (on Historic Register) issue to be addressed through County regulations. Town cannot condemn. At this point the Town can deem the dwelling extremely unsafe, the County may step in to encourage the home owners to act. Mayor to follow up.
NEW BUSINESS: Zach Nelson – Town of Rockville Preliminary Budget for review. Plan to create (on paper) Road Maintenance and Emergency/Disaster Relief Fund.
Road Maintenance plan reviewed for public visitors. Grace, Rockland and Sea Island Yacht Club Roads be crowned and top dressed. Culverts in Linton’s yard may need to be addressed to promote drainage.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Seth and Tori Bolt regarding Maybank Highway Property. Construction of their home is almost complete. Additionally, they plan to build (have built?) 3 cottages for short-term rental. A new Short-Term Rental Ordinance that was put in effect last year during the construction process has compelled them to apply for Planned Development rather then have the property rezoned so that they may rent the cottages on short-term basis as planned. The Bolts hope to promote open dialogue on the topic to allow the community to learn about and understand their plans regarding their approach to the development of their property, as well as their goal to stay in line with the community’s current philosophy.
John Hope, on behalf of the Bolts and this issue, would like to help facilitate a more welcoming atmosphere.
